This morning, on July 26, 2023, during the 297th National Council of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) held in Milan at the Allianz Tower, the headquarters of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, President **Giovanni Malagò** announced that in March 2024, Busto Arsizio (VA) will host the Boxing Pre-Olympic Tournament, the assignment of which falls under the jurisdiction of the IOC.

“We will have the responsibility and honor of organizing it,” declared the head of Italian sports, “and I congratulate the President of the Italian Boxing Federation, Flavio D’Ambrosi, and Anna Riccardi for the great achievement.”

This news has been eagerly awaited by the Italian Boxing Federation, which, in collaboration with the indications of the IOC and CONI, has worked extensively alongside the Municipality of Busto Arsizio to ensure the organizational and qualitative standards required to host a significant and fundamental tournament for the selection of athletes participating in the Olympic competition.

“I am very pleased with this announcement, which confirms the great value of the teamwork done in recent months by the Federation,” said the satisfied President of the Italian Boxing Federation, Flavio D’Ambrosi. “We will make every effort to honor an event that, after many years, returns to give the right international prestige to Italian Boxing. It is a victory for the entire boxing movement, and I sincerely thank President Malagò, the Municipality of Busto Arsizio, and all those who believed and worked, including the President of the Lombardy Regional Committee Massimo Bugada, to achieve another great result in this four-year period by the Federation.”

Once again, Lombardy confirms itself as a focal point in the world of sports, with strong, competent, and passionate localities such as Busto Arsizio.

“Busto is honored to host this international event leading to the release of Olympic passes,” declared Mayor Emanuele Antonelli and Sports Assessor Maurizio Artusa. “We thank President Malagò, CONI, the Italian Boxing Federation, and the Lombardy FPI Regional Committee for believing in our proposal, in our sports arena, an excellent facility and a reference point for a very extensive territory, in the services that the city can offer in support of the event. An event that we look forward to hosting and that will fuel the passion for a sport that is experiencing a beautiful present in the city with Eligio Calandrino’s Master Boxing and that can count on a beautiful past with Bruno Bisterzo, an unforgettable European champion of the ’40s.”

The first World Olympic Qualification Tournament will take place from March 3 to 11, 2024, in Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese, at the renowned E-Work Arena, the arena that hosts challenges in the Serie A women’s volleyball and has hosted numerous international competitions, from basketball to volleyball.
